Episode 9 Future, You Are My Reason To Die

Kyouko now recalls looking at her NG bracelet, which says "Passing the Fourth Time Limit With Makoto Naegi Alive", before having the following short conversation:

KYOUKO: It's almost the time limit.
AOI: We've locked the doors and made a barricade!
KYOUKO: We still may not be safe, though.
MAKOTO: Yeah.
RYOUTA: That's right. The attacker has complete control of the facility. They could open the lock.
AOI: We can't be sure, huh?
KYOUKO: Hey, Naegi-kun. No matter what happens, don't give up on hope. I shall always be by your side.
MAKOTO: Yeah. I'll do what I can. We won't lose. We can't lose!
AOI: Yeah, yeah!

At which point the alert for a time limit plays and they all go to sleep. It is the fourth time limit.

Episode 1 Future, Third Time's the Charm

[ kyouko opens the door to the ladies' restroom to see ryota pacing around nervously. ]

KYOUKO: What's wrong?
RYOTA: Um, I'm here for the meeting with Chairman Tengan. I didn't know if I could enter.
KYOUKO: Aren't you...
RYOTA: Yes, Ryota Mitarai, with Branch Office 10. Huh?

[ suddenly, the building shakes. ]

AOI: Why can't we see Naegi?
KYOUKO: That's how much they suspect us. They probably think we worked together, to hide the Remnants of Despair.
AOI: But still...
KYOUKO: Anyway, you'll be treated as a co-conspirator, at this rate.
AOI: Won't you, too, Kyouko-chan?
KYOUKO: I'm Naegi-kun's boss. This is a Branch Office 14 problem. There's no need for you to take responsibility.
AOI: That's not fair! We may be in different branches now, but let me help!
KYOUKO: You haven't changed at all, have you?
AOI: Aw, come on, Kyouko-chan. You know we're in this together, right?

RYOTA: Why was he so willing to reveal his forbidden action?
KAZUO: He probably believes in everyone.
RYOTA: Everyone? Even Munakata-san, who suspects him?
KAZUO: Yes, he does. He thinks that, even if they're enemies now, they can understand eachother if they talk.
RYOTA: That's crazy!
KAZUO: Naegi-kun is well aware of that. But truly believing in someone means doing that, regardless.
RYOTA: I could never do that...
KAZUO: Worried?
KYOUKO: No.

[ dodges out of the way of a chair thrown at her; it hits the wall instead. ]

Juzo: Tch. Almost...

[ as she checks around a corner with a compact mirror to make sure it's clear: ]

KYOUKO: The fewer of us, the easier the killer will be to find. The rules disadvantage the attacker. It's as if they have no intention of winning.
RYOTA: Where are you going?
KYOUKO: To do my job as a detective. While we were unconscious, someone was killed.
KAZUO: Going alone is dangerous. We'll go with you.

[ kyouko sighs. ]

RYOTA: The attacker is one thing. But why did Munakata-san suddenly decide to kill Naegi-san?
KAZUO: Munakata-kun is a strong man. But a hope that is too strong can sometimes approach despair.

[ ryota clenches his fist. ]

KYOUKO: What's wrong?
RYOTA: Our actions in here are being broadcast to the whole world, right?
KYOUKO: Yes.
RYOTA: Then...we shouldn't be doing this to eachother! We need to believe in eachother and work together!
KYOUKO: Hey, Mitarai-kun...May I see your forbidden action?

[ ryota gasps and backs up. ]

RYOTA: Well...
KYOUKO: I cannot show you mine, either. And that is our situation. In this situation, trusting eachother is difficult. The attacker probably incorporated forbidden actions into the rules in order to make us realize that. Unless you're a huge softie...

[ intercom comes on. ]

MAKOTO: Um, can you hear me? This is Naegi Makoto. Just now, the attacker killed Great Gozu. Clearly, we need to stop the attacker. But I believe that, in trying to find them, if we doubt eachother too much, we'll be giving Monkuma what he wants. Let's talk about this. Some people may think that I'm on the Remnants of Despair's side. I did something which might make you think that. Back then, as part of Branch Office 14, I was conducing rescue operations. There, I found the former students of Hope's Peak High School. Immediately, I knew that they belonged to the Remnants of Despair. And that they had killed many people and driven the world into despair...But they used to be normal students, who played, laughed, and sometimes fought. If...If they hadn't met her...Enoshima Junko...There was one way to save them. The New World program. Using a virtual rehabilitation program, I restored their memories from before Enoshima Junko impanted despair in them. There was an unexpected obstacle, and it didn't go as originally planned. But I believe that they're all right now. That's everything that happened. I'm sure that everyone here has their own circumstances. But if we talk to one another, we can purge these misunderstandings and fears. Belief in eachother is our hope! And to make that happen...I'm abandoning this game. My forbidden action is running in the hallway.

[ kyouko laughs. ]

MAKOTO: You can easily kill me now. But if I were the attacker, I wouldn't do this, right? So please...trust me!
