[ Friday was... yeah... Turkeys. Waffles. Enough to get distracted by, that Minato didn't finish reading through the Retrospec posts until late Sunday night, gave up his shift at Expressive, and is milling around the university library too close to closing time if there's a closing time. He texts Kyouko to meet him here, and also Bakhura, finds one of those comfy couches and process to fall right asleep there, he can be waken up whenever, whatever, gonna take advantage of the waiting time to catch up on the sleep he's skipped over literally the past two nights. He's running on nothing but three thermoses full of pure espresso. ]
[ friday sure was a day. but late sunday night kyouko gets a text and she comes as asked...though she's going to show up about twenty minutes after the text. she's not the most punctual, and she had to clear the time to do so.
once she's there, though, she'll reach out to tap minato on the shoulder. ]
[ Twenty minutes is an okay amount of time for a nap. From the way Minato makes a disapproving noise in his throat but neither moves nor opens his eyes, he thinks twenty hours is more fitting.
Taps are ineffective. Even in canon he requires, well, cannon blasts. ]
[ Despite having teased Minato for his determination, Bakhura had nevertheless been surprised to receive a text from him that Sunday evening. He had thought (and, indeed, hoped) that he could avoid the prospect of socializing if he had put on the same apathetic front he gave everyone else, but instead, he had only piqued Minato's interest further.
He needs to work on that in the future.
In the meantime, however, he supposes it's a way to pass the time - and to get his therapist off his case about roaming the streets with nothing particularly productive to do.
Bakhura looms over the couch, his Millennium Ring jingling as he moves. He wouldn't normally be wearing it, but given the topic of conversation, he had a feeling that personal items received from Retrospec might be relevant.
That is, if they even get to the conversation.
He shoots a look at Kyouko, supposing that she must be the other attendee that Minato had mentioned in their previous conversation. He doesn't understand a word she's saying, but her furious shaking of Minato gives him a pretty good idea. ]
[ kyouko immediately switches back to english upon hearing it. she is, for the record, dressed in sensible business attire: a skirt and blouse, and heeled boots. and she's got her purple eyes and hair back but yeah. ]
Please. I was considering progressing to kicking him.
[ In a stark contrast to his first exposure to changes in people's natural hair and eye colors, Bakhura almost completely ignores the abnormalities in Kyouko's appearance. Indeed, after nearly five months of dealing with "monsters", unreality and "remembering" multiple lives, such things seemed totally inconsequential now.
Of course, it helps that Bakhura hasn't noticed that his own hair color had changed on his way to the library. ]
...I was just going to smack him on the forehead with the nearest book for a few times, but I don't see any reason we can't do that, too.
[ I can't believe Bakhura gets to be the hero two months in a row. ]
Very well.
[ However, as promised, he reaches to the nearest shelf, snatching the biggest book he can find — probably some scientific book — and drops it on Minato's face. Talk about a rude awakening. ]
[ NOW THAT I HAVE THIS THREAD TRACKED... The shaking had been ineffective, but Bakhura has the right idea of go big or go home, the book landing right on Minato's face. His eyes snap open, blinking unseeingly for a moment as the book slides off his face and the edge hitting his chest for double damage. ]
What?
[ Why is there a book? ]
Who are you...?
[ He'd checked their profiles for their names but. This one's not good with faces. ]
[ Minato can't confirm what he doesn't know for sure, so he'll let Kyouko make introductions for herself. As for himself, introductions aren't in order if he's the one who called the both of them here, so he sits up a little straighter and sets the book on the table in front of him, out of any of the two's grabbing and throwing range. ]
I read through everything that was made public. The tone... changed a lot through the months. [ Why couldn't it have stayed cat posts... ] Not sure I believe everything, but I'll believe anything confirmed by the two of you.
[ Minato closes his eyes, briefly. No more coffee for him for at least... Well, tomorrow, because he's on shift again. But no more for tonight. ]
How long's the library open for? We could grab a study room.
[ Presumably, the study room is just a table and chairs that are too much trouble to lift and drop on his face like a cup of coffee would be so easy to do. ]
[ Since Minato made the suggestion and Kyouko isn't protesting, that's two against one by default and Bakhura doesn't get a say; Minato looks to Kyouko and... just looks, really. Expecting her to know how to reserve a study room. He's not a university student here. He doesn't know the procedure. ]
[ Disappointed though Bakhura may be about being herded into a study room, in reality he would have had to rely on the kindness in Kyouko and Minato's hearts had they gone to the coffee shop instead — he was, after all, a punk teenager with no job and no money, and far be it from him to work for an allowance — and he sincerely doubted that it would have come through for them, especially after he had dropped a book on Minato's face. Sure, he had only done what was necessary to get things moving, but he nevertheless assumes the damage had been done.
Besides, he would have done nothing but compare the quality of the coffee to its Egyptian counterparts anyway.
Still, Bakhura will keep his complaints to himself for once in his life, and he's glad he does once he sees the armchairs.
He immediately plants himself in one. ]
H-Heh heh... didn't know these were in here. I'll have to come here more often.
[ They're very nice, cushy armchairs that are counterproductive to studying because the moment Minato takes a seat and sinks into the cushions, his eyes slide shut and he's very very tempted to fall right back asleep. ]
Any pressing topics? Otherwise, I want to start with the fruit.
[ mumbles this with his eyes still closed, let him at least rest those while being somewhat engaged in the conversation. ]
[ What else but the video that Kyouko had warned him was a waste of time? For the most part, Minato had gone through the posts chronologically from the very beginning, but the very first thing he looked at in detail was that video that he pulls up on his phone now and places it on the table in between them, at least not pushing play and subjecting them to that all over again. ]
March 17th. From the responses, people's realizations came after the update by Halloway. He had a video prepared with fruit as its highlight. He must have known beforehand that people's perceptions will have changed. [ Minato pauses here, not liking to sound accusatory, but... he's accusing. ] I want to know more about Halloway.
From what I know of him, he's the head of the R&D Department...and they seem to be capable of "fixing" things. His posts have always made it sound like he knows more than us, but that particular one does have proof it isn't entirely false...
[ that said. ]
However, it seems like they know about our "past lives", don't they? And apparently one particular group of people's past lives included those fruits.
11/5; action
i assume bakura will show up also ?
once she's there, though, she'll reach out to tap minato on the shoulder. ]
I sent an inbox text so we'll see!

Arisato, isn't it time to be getting up?

You called me here to talk about my experiences with Retrospec. Remember?
Not sure about her, though... but if I had to guess, then she must be that Kyouko person you told me about. Right?
[ He casts his gaze from Minato to Kyouko, wondering which of them will confirm his suspicions first. ]

[ hello, everyone. ]
Shall we do this here, or move to a study room, or a coffee shop?

[ to accommodate students or something. ]
...And there are a few free study rooms, so that would be easy enough.
