... that's horrible, if it's true. It's bad enough if something happens to us, but they don't even know what's going.

[ it's all hypothetical, of course, so there's no point in getting upset over what is just a possibility. the thought is still worrisome. ]

I know that some people are envious of them, that they can live their lives normally. Just knowing that I went months without knowing what was happening drives me crazy though.

Exactly! And learning about things secondhand isn't the same as experiencing it for yourself.
