2) Possibly they will. Which I suppose is better than having no fallback at all, but all the same...

1) I've met her. My group worked with her closely back in August. When you rescue someone from a monster fish-king that's trying to marry her, you become a little protective... anyway, she's quite a bit friendlier than either Jim or Janet tended to be.
2) I'd be more comforted if they didn't need us in the first place. That is, if they actually had things under control.

It seems like they might be up against something bigger than we've been told...well, I look forward to the entire narrative.

I certainly believe they are. We'll simply have to help them as much as we can, given our own safety relies on their stability.
